Driveway Cleaning and Sealing is our most frequently requested service and we clean and seal block paving and imprinted concrete and clean and restore tarmacadam and asphalt surfaces.

Block paving can create a beautiful looking driveway if correctly laid and subsequently maintained from time to time. However, it's the nature of the blocks to be quite porous which tends to lead to damp conditions in which moss, algae and lichen proliferate and also the sand-filled joints between the blocks tend to be a breeding ground for weeds to form, as many or even most homeowners with this surface will testify!

Block paving refurbishment takes place in stages:

Firstly, the cleaning: Do bear in mind if you're comparing quotes that there are really 2 levels of cleaning - there is going over the surface with either a rotary head or lance and then there is a 'deep clean' which involves only using the lance and concentrates on getting as much muck and old sand out of the joints as possible. We always recommend and use both stages as, although obviously more time-consuming, it leads to the best possible result for the homeowner.

Secondly, re-sanding: Once completely dry, new kiln-dried sand is swept into the joints which stabilises the blocks and helps prevent future moss and weed growth in the joints.

Thirdly, sealing: Two coats of Smartseal™ Block Paving Sealer are applied to the surface. Sealing the blocks provides better protection against colour loss, staining and fungal growths while also setting the jointing sand solid, which further restricts weed and moss growth.
